Precast site products insurance · New England

Site & roadway product insurance for New England precasters.

Retaining wall systems, median barrier, blocks, steps and curbs are high-volume products with low-drama production and high-drama failure modes. The exposure map looks different here — so the program does too.

Exposure matrix

What goes wrong, and what responds.

The exposures below are the ones that actually generate claims in this segment. Each one maps to a specific coverage on the program — that mapping is the underwriting.

Exposure
What happens & what responds
WALL

Retaining wall failures

A failed wall drags the block producer into geotech-heavy litigation alongside the designer, installer and owner — long, expensive and technical.Responds: GL products–completed operations

ROAD

Barrier & roadside products

Products whose job is to be crashed into get engineering scrutiny after every serious accident on the road where they sit.Responds: General liability & umbrella

PICK

High-volume handling

Repetitive lifting, flipping and machine handling of blocks and steps drives workers' comp frequency even when severity stays low.Responds: Workers' compensation

FLEET

Flatbeds, forks & knuckle booms

Jobsite and curbside deliveries blend driving, lifting and placing — three coverages in one stop.Responds: Commercial auto & GL

STOCK

Acres of yard inventory

Finished product stored outdoors year-round is exposed to forklift damage, weather and theft — and it's real money.Responds: Property

One program, whole operation

This segment rarely travels alone.

Most producers cast more than one product line and run their own delivery. The program underwrites the whole operation together — see the other segments below or start from the program overview.

Precast site products insurance FAQ

Common questions, straight answers.

For anything specific to your operation, call 978-897-7773 and ask about the Precast Concrete Manufacturers Insurance Program.

A wall built with our blocks failed, but an engineer designed it. Are we still exposed?
Expect to be named anyway — plaintiffs sue the whole chain and sort it out in discovery. Your products liability responds to defense and to any share attributed to the product itself. Clear installation guidance and spec documentation, which we help producers formalize, is what keeps your share small.
Does supplying crash-rated barrier products increase our liability?
It changes it: crash-rated products carry certification and traceability obligations, and after a severe accident the product's compliance gets examined closely. Limits and documentation should reflect that — it's a solvable underwriting problem, not a reason to avoid the work.
Our payroll swings hard with the season. How does that affect workers' comp?
Comp premium follows actual payroll, so seasonal operations should be set up on payroll reporting that matches reality rather than a flat annual guess — otherwise you fund the carrier all winter and get audited anyway. It's a structure question we fix on most seasonal accounts we take over.
